Appointments are structured similarly to the standard obstetric schedule, starting monthly at 8 weeks and increasing in frequency until weekly at 36 weeks. Appointments are held at your home and generally last an hour. We discuss all aspects of health, including food, exercise, stress, and sleep. Standard labs and ultrasounds are discussed and offered. You are the primary caregiver to your baby, and I provide a lot of education about the options you have for pregnancy and upcoming birth and postpartum.

I am on call 24/7 for the onset of your labor, and we are in close contact the last few weeks. When labor begins, I arrive at your home with my assistant and bring supplies such as IV fluids, pharmaceuticals for handling hemorrhages, oxygen, and suture equipment. Following evidence based care, you are free to labor in any position you would like, eat and drink, and have the support people you choose to have with you. When your baby is born, they are placed skin to skin, with bonding made priority. We stay several hours postpartum to ensure everyone is well and to tidy up before leaving.

In the weeks following birth, I return to your home multiple times to ensure you are healing properly, breastfeeding is going smoothly, and baby is healthy. We discuss the birth experience and screen for postpartum depression. Standard newborn procedures, such as the Newborn Screen and Critical Congenital Heart Disease Screen are also offered. I can provide care for the first 4 weeks of life for your baby, and 6 weeks postpartum for yourself.
