Meet Chelsea Campbell
Background
After finishing her bachelor’s degree in 2011, Chelsea pursued her massage therapy license and started a small pregnancy and postpartum massage business in the suburbs of Houston, Texas. She also attended births as a doula, but quickly felt helpless when assisting clients in the medical setting where they were placed on the conveyor belt of modern medical care. During this time she also attended her first home birth and knew that she couldn’t ignore the call to midwifery that she had felt for years; the difference in care was stark.
She started her midwifery apprenticeship in February 2013 with a high volume birth center in Katy, Texas with both CPMs and CNMs. She attended over 150 births during her three years of training. After licensing in 2016, she joined the Katy Birth Center team part time, taking breaks for the births of each of her three children at home. In 2021, her family relocated to the Kenai Peninsula, and Sterling Midwifery Care, LLC was born in 2022. She looks forward to providing care to the wonderful community they have joined!
My Philosophy
I believe birth is fundamentally a natural process that was designed to work well. My role in the process is education, support, watchful waiting, and providing emergency measures during the rare complication.
Each mother, baby, and family presents unique needs in pregnancy, and I strive to provide individualized care for my clients. Even if you have had a baby before, you are not the same person as last time! My hope is that my care empowers clients to educate themselves, ask the hard questions, and make positive strides in their health and the health of their family for the rest of their lives.
